Okay vacation is over and we've been back for a while now - so why haven't I finished posting about this Colorado trip......I know you have been looking.......ah, the lazy days of summer.........(doesn't that sound better than I'm too scattered)
On our jeep ride the driver spotted a red columbine. He said these weren't rare - but they certainly are not plentiful like the blue columbines. Our driver was so knowledgeable about wildflowers and history and I really enjoyed what he had to say. He knew that this red columbine was fully open - which is different from the way the blue columbines open. I wish I could have gotten a slightly better photo but with all of us women lining up to take her picture I didn't want to be a whistle pig by keeping her all to myself. After all Her Majesty was a busy lady waving to Her subjects.....
